From the President’s Desk

As newly elected president of the USS Boxer Veterans Association, may I say thank you

     for the opportunity to serve you.  It is my intent to be observant in the performance

     of my duties; responsible to my fellow officers and the membership of our organization.

Do hope all members who attended the 2011 reunion had a memorable time; along with

     a safe journey back to your respective homes.  I wish to congratulate Gerry and

     Susanne Beddington, 2011 Reunion Chair, for putting on this year’s venue in

     Plymouth, MA.  Fellow members made mention to me to extend a “thank you” to

     you both.  For the time and energy spent in making this year’s reunion a success;

     thank you for all your efforts.

As most of you know, for 2012, I have accepted the responsibilities as reunion chairman

     for next year’s event.  In this issue of the Boxer Shorts; please review information

     on dates, location, and prices for the hotel. (Reservations; 2012 Reunion)  As of this

     writing, I am working on the details for the reunion event; my intention to have this

     information available by the first of the year.  Please note, I am asking for volunteers

     to assist in the preparation and presentation for next year’s reunion; the formulation

     of a committee(s).  Give me a call, would like to hear from you…

I have started the process of establishing contact with personal aboard USS Boxer, LHD-4.

     It is my intention to keep the lines of communication open; to make aware our assistance

     to ship’ company and their families.  It would be my hope, members of Boxer would be

     interested in our organization through this venue.  As most of you know, toys and monies

     are collected for the Christmas season by the association for the children of Boxer.

     I believe this is a wonderful gesture on the part of the association.  If you would like to

     donate to this worthy cause, please contact me or association treasurer, Bill Axtell;

     we will make every effort the donations are forwarded in a timely manner.

     contact me.  Again, I’m honored to be president of this great association.  Hoping to see

     you in the San Francisco area in 2012.
